About Us

Helen R. Hecht has been a gardener all her life. She loves to create and restore gardens. Her passion lies with gardens surrounding older homes and estates. She has designed some of the gardens and continues to maintain all of the existing the gardens at the Union Mills Homestead in Union Mills MD. She has also been caring for the three properties owned by the Carroll County Historical Society in Westminster MD and a 50 acre historic estate in Union Bridge. In the past she has completed and served in the Carroll County Master Gardener Program. Helen is a member with FONA and volunteers her time at the National Arboretum in Washington DC. Many years ago she worked for Carroll Gardens, expanding her vast knowledge of plants. In 2008 Helen was selected to attend the Historic Landscape Institute at Monticello. Helen has help from her husband Michael when Gazebos, Pool Houses, Decks and Pergolas are added to your garden design. Helen also found love and support from her late mother in law Franziska Reed Huxley and her grandmother Johanna Mc Quail Reed.

Michael R Hecht, Sr. started working in construction in 1977. He enjoys designing and building. Michael has a long list of happy customers and he is available to work with you on your next project. Michael does many smaller projects himself. He also enjoys working with his network of friends and business partners. This allows him to get involved in very large projects as well. In 2006 we did jobs as small as a 6ft by 8ft pergola in Ellicott City and as large as installing 25 New Kitchens and bathrooms for Fairfax County VA. We have completed many comercial contracts on Schools and Government buildings. Michael loves to work in Carroll County but has been sent as far as Florida to take care of his customers. The old saying goes, “there is no job too large or too small”. All you have to do is call. Michael also loves to work with Iron, brick and stone. Take a look at some of our pictures and see if you would like us to come talk with you about your next project.
